भारत को रहस्यवादियों की भूमि के रूप में जाना जाता है। कई साधु-संत अतीत में इस पवित्र मिट्टी पर चले और दुनिया भर में अपने आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान का प्रसार किया।
साईं बाबा भी एक भारतीय रहस्यवादी थे जो अपनी चमत्कारी गतिविधियों के लिए जाने जाते थे। साई को एक बड़ा भक्त आधार प्राप्त है और लोग उनकी जाति और पंथ के बावजूद उनकी पूजा करते हैं। हिंदू उसे दत्तात्रेय का अवतार मानते हैं। साईं का जन्म एक हिंदू ब्राह्मण दंपति से हुआ था। हालाँकि उनके जन्म के तुरंत बाद, उन्हें एक मुस्लिम फकीर ने गोद ले लिया था। जब साईं नौ साल के थे, तब उन्हें गोपाल देशमुख नाम के आध्यात्मिक गुरु ने फिर से गोद ले लिया। गोपाल भगवान वेंकटेश्वर के आराध्य भक्त थे। वह साई को पिछले जन्म से अपना शिष्य मानता था। गोपाल के पास अपार आध्यात्मिक शक्तियाँ थीं।
हालांकि, ईर्ष्यालु ग्रामीणों का एक समूह था, जो गोपाल को साईं के करीब जाना पसंद नहीं करते थे। क्रोध और ईर्ष्या से बाहर एक दिन उन्होंने उन पर पथराव शुरू कर दिया। साई बहुत परेशान थे और अपने गुरु के कारण होने वाले नुकसान के लिए खुद को दोषी मानते थे। यह तब है जब गोपाल ने अपनी शक्तियां साईं को स्थानांतरित करने का फैसला किया। गोपाल ने घोषणा की कि जल्द ही वह अपने नश्वर शरीर को छोड़ देगा। उन्होंने साईं को पास की एक काली गाय से कुछ दूध निकालने का भी निर्देश दिया। उसने फिर साईं से उस दूध को पीने के लिए कहा। इसके चलते गोपाल के पास सभी आध्यात्मिक शक्तियां स्थानांतरित हो गईं। निधन से ठीक पहले उन्होंने पश्चिम की ओर इशारा किया।
साई ने पश्चिम दिशा की ओर बढ़ना शुरू किया और इसी तरह वह शिरडी में उतरे। वहाँ पहुँचने के बाद वह एक नीम के पेड़ के नीचे बैठ गया और ध्यान करने लगा। वह बिना हिलाए एक ही मुद्रा में कई दिनों तक बैठा रहता। एक युवा लड़के को दिनों तक बेसुध बैठे देखकर गाँव वाले आश्चर्यचकित रह गए। शुरू में, उन्होंने उसे कुछ पागल व्यक्ति समझा और उसे गाँव से बाहर फेंकने की कोशिश की। हालाँकि जल्द ही वे समझ गए कि साईं एक सामान्य इंसान नहीं थे बल्कि उनके पास दिव्य शक्तियाँ थीं। साई ने जल्द ही एक स्थानीय मस्जिद में रहना शुरू कर दिया और इसे द्वारकामयी कहा। वह मस्जिद में पवित्र अग्नि प्रज्ज्वलित करेगा। आग से उत्पन्न राख में हीलिंग पावर थी।
साईं बाबा ने अपने भक्तों को गैर धर्म का अभ्यास करने के लिए कहा। उसने हमें सिखाया कि ईश्वर एक है। उनकी शिक्षाओं में भागवत गीता, रामायण, कुरान आदि सभी धर्मों के धर्मग्रंथ शामिल थे। साईं अपनी अलौकिक क्षमताओं जैसे टेलीपोर्टेशन, टेलिकिनेज़ीस, लेविटेशन, टेलीपैथी, आदि के लिए प्रसिद्ध थे। साई पूरी निष्ठा के साथ भविष्य की भविष्यवाणी भी कर सकते हैं। इन विशेष शक्तियों ने दुनिया भर के भक्तों को आकर्षित किया। उनकी शिक्षाओं में सभी के लिए करुणा, अहिंसा और सहानुभूति शामिल थी।
शिरडी का तीर्थस्थल विश्व प्रसिद्ध धरोहर है। यह वही स्थान है जहाँ साईं के शव को रखा गया है। मंदिर में हर दिन हजारों लोगों द्वारा दौरा किया जाता है।

Sai Baba was also an Indian mystic known for his miraculous activities. Sai enjoys a huge devotee base and people irrespective of their caste and creed worship him. Hindus consider him to be the incarnation of Dattatreya. Sai was born to a Hindu Brahmin couple. However soon after his birth, he was adopted by a Muslim Fakir. When Sai was nine years old he was again adopted by his spiritual master named Gopal Deshmukh. Gopal was an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara. He considered Sai to be his disciple from a previous birth. Gopal possessed immense spiritual powers.
However, there was a bunch of jealous villagers who did not like Gopal getting closer to Sai. Out of rage and jealousy one day they started pelting stones at them. Sai was very upset and considered himself to be guilty of the harm caused to his master. This is when Gopal decided to transfer his powers to Sai. Gopal declared that soon he shall leave his mortal body. He also instructed Sai to get some milk from a black cow nearby. He then asked Sai to drink that milk. This led to the transfer of all the spiritual powers Gopal possessed. Just before passing away, he pointed towards West.
Sai started moving towards the West direction and that is how he landed in Shirdi. After reaching there he sat under a neem tree and started meditating. He would sit in the same posture for days without moving. The villagers were surprised to see a young boy sitting motionless for days. Initially, they thought him to be some mad person and tried to throw him out of the village. However soon they understood that Sai was not a normal human being but possessed divine powers. Sai soon started staying in a local mosque and called it Dwarkamayi. He would light a sacred fire in the mosque. The ash produced from the fire had healing powers.
Sai Baba asked his devotees to practice non-religion. He taught us that God is one. His teachings involved scriptures from all the religions like Bhagwat Geeta, Ramayana, Quran.Bible etc. Sai was famous for his supernatural abilities like teleportation, telekinesis, levitation, telepathy, etc. Sai could also predict the future with complete clarity. These special powers attracted devotees from all across the world. His teachings involved compassion, nonviolence, and empathy for all.
The pilgrimage of Shirdi is a world-famous heritage site. This is the place where Sai's mortal remains are kept. The temple is visited by thousands of people every day.
