Shiva Tandava Strotram

Shiva Tandava Stotram is a hymn that praises the God Shiva and his cosmic dance, known as Tandava. The hymn is traditionally attributed to the Ravana, who is said to have been a great devotee of Lord Shiva.

The Tandava is a powerful and intense dance that Shiva performs in order to destroy the universe at the end of every cosmic cycle, and bring about the creation of a new one. This dance is not only a symbol of destruction but also of the continuous cycle of creation and destruction in the universe, and the ultimate dissolution of all things in the divine consciousness.

The hymn is consists of 16 verses. Each verse describes a different aspect of Shiva's Tandava and its significance. The first verse, for example, describes the power and energy of Shiva's dance, which is said to cause the destruction of the universe.

The second verse describes the various aspects of Shiva's appearance, such as his matted hair, crescent moon, and serpentine necklace. The third verse describes the various weapons that Shiva holds, including the trident and drum, as well as the various animals that are associated with him, such as the bull and the elephant. The fourth verse describes the various forms of Shiva, such as the destroyer, the creator, and the protector.

The hymn also describes how Shiva's Tandava causes the universe to tremble, and how it is accompanied by the sound of the damaru, a small hand drum that Shiva holds. It also describes the various gods and goddesses who are in awe of Shiva's dance, and how they worship him with devotion.

The hymn concludes by describing the blessings that one can receive by reciting the hymn and meditating on the image of Shiva. It is said that those who recite the hymn with devotion and concentration will be blessed with wisdom, strength, and success in their endeavours.

The hymn is considered to be very powerful and is often recited by Shiva devotees as a means of obtaining the blessings of Lord Shiva. It is believed that by reciting the hymn and meditating on the image of Shiva, one can attain spiritual knowledge, strength, and success in their endeavors.

It's important to note that, the hymn is not just a collection of words but it's a powerful vibrational tool that connects the devotee to the divine consciousness and it's recitation with devotion can bring immense benefits to one's spiritual progress.
